Framework for Teaching – Educator

CEC supports districts in the development of teacher appraisal systems that are based on Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching (FfT) and aligned with professional best practices. The Danielson Framework identifies teacher behaviors and responsibilities that have been documented through empirical studies and theoretical research as promoting improved teaching practice and student learning.

CEC provides support for school districts in the development of professional practices, including hiring procedures, mentoring of non-tenured teachers, teacher appraisal, and professional growth plans.

When working with districts on teacher appraisal systems, CEC facilitates the development of a district-wide evaluation philosophy and purpose. CEC also guides district development of evaluation priorities, procedures, and forms for non-tenured, tenured, and tenured with assistance teachers.

In conjunction with development of the appraisal system, CEC supports the district implementation of FfT-based professional growth models through professional development for teachers and principals on evidence-based data collection, formative assessment, coaching/facilitative language, and professional growth strategies.
