Pam Scherzer

Dr. Pam Scherzer works with CEC, coaching new school principals through CEC’s Coaching Leaders to Attain Student Success (CLASS) program and providing workshops through CEC’s New Leader Institutes, training teacher mentors using the New Teacher Center (University of California at Santa Cruz) model, and training school leaders in the use of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching. Recently, she has been involved in working with districts to develop staff evaluation plans based on the Danielson Framework.
In addition to her work with CEC, Dr. Scherzer is a consultant to school districts, supporting organizational and staff development efforts designed to improve student learning. She has provided support through coaching to districts striving to become professional learning communities.
Dr. Scherzer’s work with school districts in Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Illinois has included presentations on the Professional Learning Community principles, including identification of clear learning standards, use of data tools to inform instructional decisions, and development of interventions to support struggling learners.
Dr. Scherzer is a former elementary school principal with more than 35 years of experience in public education. Dr. Scherzer served as principal two elementary schools in Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, until her retirement in 2004. Prior to joining District 96, Dr. Scherzer was a fourth grade teacher, library learning center director, and assistant principal at Fairview South School in District 72 in Skokie, Illinois.
Dr. Scherzer received her doctorate from Roosevelt University in Chicago and completed her dissertation on the role of CEC in collaborative school cultures.
